English (UK)   Spurs win Carling Cup  -  Categories: League Cup  -  @ 12:54:35 pm

Tottenham 2 - 1 Chelsea (after extra time)

Spurs came back from a 0-1 deficit to force extra time, and then win the Carling Cup over their London rivals. Didier Drogba scored from a free kick to give Chelsea the lead in the first half. Spurs keeper Paul Robinson's positioning was less than perfect as he remained rooted to the center of the goal as the ball flew in. With Chelsea holding on to their 1-0 lead in the second half, Wayne Bridge gave Spurs a life line when he handled the ball in the penalty area. Dimitar Berbatov converted the spot kick, waiting for Chelsea keeper Petr Cech to make the first move before rolling the ball over the line. With the game tied 1-1 on 90 minutes, extra time was required to settle the cup final. And it didn't take long for Spurs to break the dead lock. Petr Cech failed to clear a corner kick, and the ball bounced off Jonathan Woodgate's head (or perhaps his face) and over the goal line to give Spurs the lead. In the second 15 minutes of extra time, Chelsea poured on the pressure, but the Spurs defense held firm. Paul Robinson tipped Lampard's effort over the bar, and Belletti's last ditch attempt sailed way over the bar. Several Tottenham players were booked for time wasting near the end, but they won't care about that when they are lifting the Carling Cup. Congratulations to Juande Ramos and the Spurs players. What a difference Ramos has made at White Hart Lane. In four months, he has taken Spurs up the Premier League table and claimed a cup victory at Wembley.

English (UK)   Is David Moyes really Moe the Bartender?  -  Categories: League Cup  -  @ 07:03:26 pm

Chelsea 2 - 1 Everton
A late own-goal from Jolean Lescott gave Chelsea a narrow 2-1 win in the first leg of their Carling Cup semi-final against Everton. Chelsea took the lead on a first half goal from Shawn Wright-Phillips. In the second half, Chelsea's Jon Mikel Obi was shown a red card and sent off. Shortly thereafter, Everton's Yakubu scored to level the score line. It looked like it would end in a draw until Lescott, under pressure from Wright-Phillips, headed the ball into his own net.

What was more interesting than the game was a text comment posted on the BBC website during the match. One fan remarked that Everton manager David Moyes looks like Moe the bartender from The Simpsons. You be the judge:

Moe Syzslak

David Moyes

Well, they both are wearing aprons.
